Budgetary response to COVID-19

May 15, 2020

Dear Baylor Faculty and Staff,

At the conclusion of the Baylor Board of Regents regular spring meeting today, we will release full details of the 2020-2021 budgetary actions encompassing cost avoidances, cost reductions and one-time funding reallocations in response to COVID-19. As higher education continues to face significant challenges, we believe the thoughtful and responsible measures - proposed by the Administration and approved by the Board - place Baylor on a path to weather the uncertain road ahead while remaining firmly committed to our Christian mission and academic endeavors.

I am grateful to our academic, administrative and athletics leadership for their thoughtful and determined work in shaping our budget recommendations and to our Board for their commitment to the people and purpose of this great University. In the video below, I share more about these recommendations and decisions.

When I consider all that you, our faculty and staff, have accomplished in these past months, I am overwhelmed with gratitude. You have cared for our students, supported one another and continued to support our community in remarkable ways. Thank you for rising to the challenge. I know that Baylor University will continue to thrive in the days ahead.

Sincerely,

Linda A. Livingstone, Ph.D.
President
