Kristy J. Orr Named as the University's Board Professional

October 13, 2017

Baylor Faculty and Staff:

I am pleased to announce that Kristy J. Orr will join the Baylor Family as the University's new Board Professional. This key position emanates from the recommendations of the Governance Review Task Force, which were adopted by the Baylor University Board of Regents in February of this year.

In this new role, Ms. Orr will provide advice, guidance and support to me, as President, and the Board to facilitate communication in a manner that enhances effective Board operations, governance and relationships among the Regents, senior administration and other constituencies of the University.

Ms. Orr comes to Baylor with extensive experience in higher education and municipal law. Since 2010, she has served as Senior Associate General Counsel to the Board for the University of Texas System, working with the Board of Regents on legal, informational and policy matters. Prior to her work with the UT System, Ms. Orr was an Assistant City Attorney for the cities of Austin and Houston and also has experience in private practice.

A 2003 graduate of Baylor Law School, Ms. Orr earned a bachelor of arts degree in psychology from the University of Texas at Austin. Her husband, David Green, is a Waco native and Baylor Law alumnus (J.D. '02) who practices environmental law. They have twin 6-year-old boys.

"I have a great affinity for Baylor and its distinct mission in higher education," Ms. Orr said. "I look forward to working with President Livingstone, Chairman Allison and the Board of Regents to continue the University's ongoing enhancements related to Board governance, communication and overall operations."

Ms. Orr will attend the upcoming Board of Regents meeting scheduled for next week, Oct. 18-20, before officially assuming her new role on Dec. 4.

We are excited to have Ms. Orr become a member of the Baylor administration as our Board Professional. This is another example of Baylor's strength and resilience, as well as the University's commitment to instituting best practices from around the country in governance, administration and policy matters.

Sincerely,

Linda A. Livingstone, PhD
President
